We had a holly jolly Christmas

Christmas here at the Forbes residence was a splendiferous event. It started with a movie on Christmas Eve, like always. This year's selection was Old Dogs with Robin Williams and John Travolta. It was pretty good. I think the best part was listening to the parentals laughing uncontrollably. ha! Then Christms Eve night we had the traditional Forbes family party. It was weird because everybody is growing up! We're used to having tons of little kids running around, but they weren't this year, because they're growing up! ha. That party was complete with a delightful selection of food, a nativity reenactment, and gift exchange. After we had said our goodbyes, the Forbes family (Mom, Dad, Todd, Tam, Preslee, Jonah, Ashley, Colin, McKell, and Kaitie Bug...the Masons were with the Mason family) exchanged sibling gifts and opened matching pajamas, which we then raced to put on. Todd and Dad won this year with a tie, mom came in a close second. After assembling the little kids piles of presents, we headed off to bed. Me, Kait, Ash, and Col all slept in Kait's room this year. Todd wasn't feelin' too great so he and Tam slept next door in my room with the kiddies. Christmas morning, Colin woke us all up at 6:40 in the AM. He was as excited as a little boy who still believed in Santa Claus. After a quick brainstorming idea of how to wake up the parentals this year (we always pull some sort of trick to wake them up), we decided on downloading the Chipmunk Christmas song on my phone, setting it as my ringtone as loud as my phone could go, and sneaking in and hiding it under the bed. After which we called my phone and listened as mom and dad were wondering aloud "What the heck? Where is that coming from? Where is it? Is it under the couch? Get it!" haha. Clever. After everyone was awake, we climbed down the stairs to see what the jolly old man brought us. Preslee was delighted to find that he had brought her her tent she had so desired to have. That was cute. And Jonah surprised us all by taking a few first steps while playing with one of his new toys. He must have been real excited. My Christmas pile was complete with a great selection of clothes, shoes, a new iPod nano, and a Flip video camera. We had a whole lot of fun with the flip video and I started filming everything almost immediately. It came with a program that assists in the quick compile a bunch of the videos into a movie, complete with music. I was trying to load one, but it was taking forever and a day to upload. That'll be real great for my study abroad in the spring. Grandpa Doug then came over and we enjoyed a breakfast of mom's traditional quiche. Mmmm how I love mom's quiche. It's so good. Then we exchanged gifts from mom's side of the family. We always draw names and then get books. I got a pocket guidebook to Italy from uncle Tony. That will definitely come in handy this Spring. Then grandpa and grandma Dick and Sally came over to join in the party. It was a great day filled with family, fun, and love. I really love Christmas. It was a real good one this year (minus three of us getting sick that night. and I mean real sick. Kait was in the ER all night. Not fun at all.) But all is well now and we are all recovering from our illness. I hope you all had a real great Christmas!

Noteworthy!

I don't know if y'all saw the Sing Off last night on NBC, but if you didn't, you MUST watch it tonight!
There is a group from BYU called Noteworthy that is on it! They are the only all female group to make it in and the are AMAZING!
My friend Siri is on it! She went to Alta! And now she's in my Northern Ren. class. She's my claim to fame. Oh! AND she won "Alta Idol" my sophomore year.
{as a quick post script here: do you people realize she is the 2nd Alta Idol from my three years there to make it to a prime-time television singing competition show? Cuz she is. As well as Jessica Seringue (or "Mariel" as her name was on "Dance Wars: Carrie vs. Bruno!" or whatever it was called...) We can't forget to mention the lovely Julianne Hough, famed country star and two-time winner of "Dancing With the Stars." Anyway, just to show Alta is great and poppin' out stars left and right! Maybe I'll be next... HA!}
I had no idea Siri was part of it until I saw them on the tv last night.
I screamed a little bit.
Okay a lot.
Just ask my roommates.
Siri's the one with short blonde hair on the right in the front most of the time.
Anyway, they made it past the first round and will sing again tonight! I'm so excited for them! Watch it and cheer for them! K k k?! Just do it!
Here is a clip from last night:

Oh Glee, how I love thee.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
I LOVE GLEE! It is just so so great. This last weeks episode topped them all. The songs they sang were AMAZING! I especially loved THIS song. I can't stop listening to it. And THIS one and THIS one too. Oh and THIS one. And THIS one from a few weeks ago. ba ha. Really I just love them ALL!!! Mmmm if only I had a voice like the people from Glee. My life would be complete.
How will I live until the Spring without Glee?!

Also, my new favorite Christmas song HERE! Can't stop listening to it. I guarantee you'll love it.

It's beginning to feel real!

I had my first official meeting for my study abroad today! I'm SO excited. They told us that out of 82 applicants, they only selected 24, and that we should feel real good about ourselves because our program had more applicants than any other study abroad program for spring. I definitely feel good about myself. In this meeting, they just explained where we would be going, what kinds of things to expect, info for passports and visas, how to pack, possible flight deals, etc. etc. I'm real excited. Did I already say that? I'm going to be living out of a backpack for two months. I was nervous when they were first talking about how that would be easiest and cheapest to do that rather than take a huge suitcase, but now thinking about it, it's the only way to go in Europe! Especially when you are packing up and moving every few days. So now I just have to book my flights there and back! Any ideas for a possible after trip? A few of us were thinking of hitting Spain or Germany for a few days after classes before heading back to the US of A. It is going to be an amazing adventure that I just can't wait for!!!

In other news, I have one day of class left! Praise the Lord! My roommates and I will be throwing a Who-bilation to celebrate along with friends from our ward. Followed by a dance @ the Loft thrown by Club Style, the Salsa Club, and the Black Student Union. Night of partying, right?! Then Friday I'll be hittin' the books. I'm just anxious to get finals over with. It will be a great day next Thursday when I take my last final. I look forward to it.

Life is great! Life is grand! Life is Wonderful!

Almost Done!

I am almost done with classes! Next Thursday is my last day. Overjoyed, yes I am. It's hard to believe how fast this semester has gone. Crazy really. I'm ready to be done. Just one more week of assignments and then it's just study study study. Wish me luck!

Also, a while back I posted a funny video of T-Pain and Obama and said I'd be doing some random funnies posts. I failed on that! So, in my attempt to rekindle that attempted tradition, I give you THIS. Taylor Swift was brilliant on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago. This is just one of the hilarious skits she did. I thought all you Twilight/New Moon fans out there might enjoy it. So, enjoy. :)
